Children start primary school in the school year in which they reach the age of five. Children officially start their primary school education when they enter a reception year class.
Admission Policy and Process
All admissions to the primary school are co-ordinated through the 'Schools Admission Service' at the Department for Children and Learning, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS2 6ER. Parents must provide their child's details to this department who will then advise if a place is available at Hinguar Primary. Parents can request the brochure 'Primary School Admissions', produced by the local authority, which gives an explanation of the admission criteria and procedures. Admissions during an academic year are called In-year admissions. Applications forms and further details about in-year admission should be made directly to the local authority. More information is available by selecting 'in-year admissions' on this web site. www.southend.gov.uk/admissions
