Remembrance Day 2014
Hinguar Primary School pupils from Seahorse Class (Early Years) to Avocet Class (Year 6), staff and volunteers assembled in the school hall for a special Remembrance Assembly on Tuesday 11th November. Mrs. Stevens led the assembly and at 11 o’clock all the pupils and staff stood in silence for 2 minutes.
The children then were shown a powerpoint focused on the art project at Tower of London that had captured the Nation. The children learnt how the poppies were constructed and installed around the Tower of London.
After the assembly members of the School Council, on behalf of the school visited the Shoebury Cenotaph to lay our school’s ‘Poppy Wreath’ alongside the many other wreaths from the Shoebury community.
In the afternoon the pupils and staff of Hinguar took part in our own Hinguar Commemoration Art Project as we assembled in the playground to make a poppy.
